Casterra’s Next-Generation Castor Varieties
Casterra is developing innovative castor varieties to meet diverse agricultural needs and growing conditions worldwide.
Our breeding program focuses on three distinct categories designed to optimize performance across different environments:
These cutting-edge varieties feature very early maturity with single raceme architecture and compact size, performing well on limited-input farming systems and higher plant stand. With growing cycle of just 100-120 days from planting to harvest and superior mechanized harvesting compatibility, they are specifically designed for large-scale farming during short rain seasons.
These varieties combine early maturity, efficient mechanized harvest and high yield under input-intensive farming systems. Reaching a height of 1.2-1.7 meters and multiple racemes per plant under a 130-150 day growing cycle, they excel in long rain seasons.
These varieties are characterized by multiple racemes and taller plants, ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters in height. Designed for year-round cultivation, they have a growing cycle exceeding 150 days. While they offer reasonable compatibility with mechanized harvest, they are better suited for prolonged selective manual harvest.
